DBNR
Disabled But Not Really (DBNR), is a non-profit organization that was founded by Wesley Hamilton in 2015. When Wesley became paralyzed three years earlier, he weighed 230 pounds and struggled with obesity and depression. He also suffered medical complications due to his weight and began to look toward fitness and nutrition as a way to not only lose weight, but feel happier and healthier. In the first eight months, he lost 100 pounds. Through this weight loss, he realized the importance of fitness, especially for those who have disabilities. He was inspired. DBNR encourages all people with disabilities including spinal cord injuries to get some sort of exercise, regardless of their ability. Our goal is to raise awareness about Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI) and show the positive impact that health and fitness can have in disabled communities globally.
