Sharon Rodriguez has spent the last two years interviewing and photographing the homeless community in Johnson County, Kansas, an affluent suburb of Kansas City. The book features 15 of the individuals she encountered, showcasing their portraits and stories. All photos are presented in black and white with their corresponding stories written in Rodriguez’ own hand. The book invites the reader to truly see and experience the life of a homeless individual and is full of surprises, heartbreak and survival.
You can join her at the Olathe Library the first Wednesday of every month from 10:00 am to 11:30 am for Coffee and Conversation. Sharon and the Library invites both those experiencing homelessness and those interested in social justice to join library them for coffee, refreshments and conversation. Guests welcome.
